Written by PLYMOUTH MA— A major two-vehicle collision at the intersection of State Road and Plimoth Patuxet Highway has left one driver dead and another injured, forcing an extended closure of several primary North-South routes.
The crash occurred on Friday morning, April 24, drawing a massive response from Plymouth Police, Fire, and EMS. Both drivers were transported to a regional trauma center, where one was subsequently pronounced deceased. The status of the second driver has not been updated at this time.
Traffic Alert & Road Closures
MassDOT and local authorities have cordoned off the area to allow for an accident reconstruction investigation. The following closures remain in effect:
- State Road (Northbound): All traffic is being diverted at Beaver Dam Road.
- Plimoth Patuxet Highway (Southbound): Closed at the State Road junction.
- Alternative Routes: Drivers traveling between Manomet and North Plymouth should utilize Route 3 or Long Pond Road to avoid significant delays in the Pine Hills area.

The Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS) is currently on the scene. While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, officials have not yet released the identities of those involved pending the notification of next of kin.
