Authorities say the roadway issue was reported early in the morning near Exit 12 on the northbound side of Route 140. Massachusetts State Police responded around 6 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple vehicles becoming disabled due to a large roadway defect. At least eight vehicles were impacted by the sinkhole conditions.

Officials from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) confirmed that crews were dispatched to the scene to conduct emergency repairs, including paving work along the affected shoulder area.
