Exploring the ABANDONED Metropolitan State Hospital (Waltham, MA)

1 min read 102 words 0 views

One of the most infamous hospitals for the mentally ill (formerly known as “insane asylums”), the Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, Massachusetts, is a piece of early 20th century medical history still standing! Located on the grounds of a public park, the administrative building for this hospital still remains intact (despite the rest of the hospital campus having been demolished years ago), and can be thoroughly explored.

Much of the interior of this building remains easily accessible, although decrepit, and walking through will give you a glimpse of what this place was once like.
