A Duxbury man is facing charges after police said he strangled a woman during an argument in an apartment building hallway.

Brandon Wangnoon, 31, faces one count each of assault to murder, strangulation, and felony breaking and entering a building at nighttime.

Wangnoon was arraigned Friday, July 1, in Plymouth District Court. He was held pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday, July 8.

Police were called to a apartment complex on Mile Brook Road about 9:30 p.m. on July 31 for a report of a man strangling a woman in the hallway.

When officers arrived, they spoke with a resident who led officers to the victim’s apartment.

The woman told officers that Wangnoon was “removed from his girlfriend’s apartment,” and he entered a different apartment without permission, police said. People in that apartment told Wangnoon to leave, but he refused and caused a disturbance.

The victim told police Wangnoon then grabbed her by the neck and threatened to kill her. A witness intervened and the victim was able to safely get away from Wangnoon.

Police found Wangnoon nearby and he was arrested.
