6 people shot in Brockton Mass during large altercation on May Street

Six people were hospitalized from gunshot wounds after a shooting early Saturday morning in Brockton, according to police.

Brockton police spokesperson Darren Duarte said officers responded to multiple 911 calls around 1:51 a.m. Saturday, July 5, that a shooting had occurred on May Street during a large altercation involving more than a dozen people.

Upon arrival, police discovered six people suffering from gunshot wounds, Duarte said.

Brockton Fire and Brewster Ambulance arrived at the scene and took over medical aid for the victims. Emergency medical services transported patients to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions are currently unknown, Duarte said.
