Written by Whitman Man Arrested on Gun and Drug Charges Following Domestic Violence Investigation
WHITMAN, MA — A Whitman man is facing multiple gun and drug charges after police executed a search warrant tied to an ongoing domestic violence investigation, according to the Whitman Police Department.
Police said the investigation began after reports of a domestic assault and the issuance of a restraining order. As a result, detectives obtained both an arrest warrant and a search warrant for a firearm allegedly in the suspect’s possession.
On the afternoon of May 5, detectives located and detained 57-year-old Stephen Francis Quinn outside a residence on Nursery Street. During a search of Quinn, officers reportedly found a hidden container in his pocket containing eight individually packaged baggies of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Authorities then searched the home, where they say they discovered a loaded Taurus .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun with 10 rounds of ammunition concealed under a bedroom mattress.
Following that discovery, investigators secured an additional search warrant. With assistance from Deputy Joe Solari and K-9 Kilo of the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department, officers conducted a further search and allegedly recovered another bag of suspected cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and more than $3,500 in cash.
Quinn was arrested and charged with:
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class B Substance
- Possession of a Firearm Without a Firearms Identification Card
- Possession of Ammunition Without a Firearms Identification Card
He was arraigned Wednesday in Brockton District Court, where bail was set at $500.
Authorities note that these are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
